    As noted in selected course descriptions, some courses will be taught entirely on-line. Students may be expected or required to use the Internet and the College's Internet-based, Kodiak, course delivery program. Registered students may access the Internet from computers located on the main campus in Springfield or from their own personal computers.
    The comment, "Online w/Kodiak", means a student does not have to physically attend classes on campus. The course instruction is delivered 100% via the Internet.

    	ST: Quantum Photonics - Prerequisite: MS or 5yr BS/MS - This course will introduce a selection of topics in quantum optics and nanophotonics with a focus toward potential applications to provide foundations for contemporary research. Areas covered will include basic concepts and theoretical tools of light matter interaction, including semiclassical and quantized model; non-classical light; localization of light and applications: photonic crystals, optical waveguides, micro-resonators, plasmonics; lasers and laser dynamics; continuous wave and short pulse generation; light modulation; examples from integrated optics and semiconductor optoelectronics and nonlinear optics. The primary methods of assessing student learning are homework assignments, quizzes, exams and design projects.
