As noted in selected course descriptions, some courses will be taught entirely on-line. Students may be expected or required to use the Internet and the College's Internet-based course delivery program. Registered students may access the Internet from computers located on the main campus in Springfield or from their own personal computers.
The comment, "Taught on-line", means a student does not have to physically attend classes on campus. The course instruction is delivered 100% via the Internet.

	ST: Cosmeceuticals - Learners will examine the fundamentals of cosmetics and cosmeceuticals intended for skin, hair, nail, and oral care. In the lecture portion of the course, learners will be introduced to the basic anatomy and physiology of the skin, hair, and nail. Various types of skin, ailments of the skin, skin/hair/nail care products, commonly used ingredients in cosmeceutical products, classifications of cosmetics, current regulatory and labeling issues, terminology, and methodologies involved in compounding or manufacturing of the skin/hair/nail care products will be discussed. Learners will also have hands-on exposure related to the formulation, preparation, and effectiveness of skin/hair/nail care products in the compounding lab. Additionally, this course will help learners to relate their knowledge of medicated products in the dermatology class to non-medicated formulations as adjunct treatment options for various skin related issues.

	PHAR 691-01 ST: Data Analysis & Biostatistics - Students will learn the principles of research methodology and applied statistical analysis. 	ST: Emotionally Intelligent Pharmacist -  Course Description: Emotional intelligence (EI) is the ability to name and manage personal emotions, as well as the emotions of others. It is a personality dimension that is becoming increasingly recognized for its importance in effective patient-centered care, and ties in with concept of professional mindfulness. This course will address EI as it pertains to the healthcare system in terms of professional interactions, review mindfulness as a means of practicing EI, and the related concepts of practitioner shame resilience and anti-burnout strategies.

	ST: Sidewalk Apothecaries - Course Description: As we see a greater percentage of the American population misusing prescribed medications, it is important to explore the areas of modern culture that perpetuate prescription drug abuse and define what resources we can utilize to protect our patients from future harm and potentially ourselves from future litigation. In this course, we will work together to identify ways in which our current culture promotes and accepts the abuse of prescription medications, define how and why certain medications are abused and explore the legal and moral ramifications associated with diversion, inappropriate prescribing and stereotyping. This will be accomplished through in-class group presentations, short writing assignments on current news articles and in-class engagement activities.

	ST: Pharmaceutical Industry - This will be an online project-based course to expose students to a variety of career options in the pharmaceutical industry through hands-on projects.  In addition to gaining an understanding of the pharmaceutical industry as a whole, learners will focus on the functional areas pharmacists most often pursue a career in because of the large impact their education and acquired skills can provide.  Learners will be able to practice and develop some of the skills necessary to complete deliverables in various functional areas within the industry such as medical affairs, regulatory, and commercial through the hands-on approach of this course.  To assist in learner development, feedback and constructive criticism will be provided on all submitted projects and presentations.  This course will also help prepare learners for post-graduate opportunities through curriculum vitae and cover letter development, strategies and insights from current full-time employees and fellows, and a mock interview.
