APPLIED
ENGINEERING SYMPOSIUM AT
WESTERN NEW
ENGLAND COLLEGE TO FOCUS ON INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING STRATEGIES AND RESEARCH
SPRINGFIELD,
MA
Western New England College's School of Engineering and the Regional
Technology Alliance (RTA) will present the fifth annual Applied Engineering Symposium
on Wednesday, May 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Sleith Hall. The event, titled
"Academic and Industrial Collaboration: Strategies for Maximizing Benefits
for All" is sponsored by the Hampden Engineering Corporation. For more information
about the symposium, visit www.regionaltechnologyalliance.com.
Since 1997,
the School of Engineering has offered an annual symposium that brings members
of industry to campus to discuss engineering issues and learn about areas of research.
The event provides an opportunity to strengthen the College's bonds with companies
throughout the region who may serve as sponsors of senior project, potential internship
sites, or future employers of graduates. The companies benefit by learning how
the College can serve as a resource to them.
The Symposium
features a variety of concurrent sessions. The luncheon gathering will include
a dedication of the School of Engineering Industry Development and Engineering
Applications (IDEA) Center.
This years
symposium "is intended to bring together academic and industrial members
of the technical community of western Massachusetts, northern Connecticut and
southern Vermont to further embed productive networks of collaborators in technology-based
ventures," said Carl Rathmann, dean of the School of Engineering.
