The National Cancer Institute recently awarded an R15 grant to Dr. Dana-Lynn Koʻomoa-Lange, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Pharmacology. It is a three-year $423,743 grant, titled "Manipulating Aberrant Calcium Signaling to Target Relapsed High-Risk Neuroblastoma."
The award will support a collaborative project between WNE's Center for Advanced Manufacturing Systems (CAMS) that will work with Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and local industry partners to grow the advanced welding cluster and deliver new highly skilled workers to employers in the region.
WNE's new Springfield-based FinTech Incubator will bolster talent development in the growing tech sector, fund new, on-campus computing infrastructure for hands-on learning opportunities, and allow faculty and students to work directly with private sector companies and other financial sector organizations on real-world challenges.
WNE helps to support faculty research opportunities by working with McAllister & Quinn, a firm that offers federal grant and faculty development consulting to colleges and universities, to help institutions sharpen their strategic focus and increase and diversify external funding. Together with McAllister & Quinn, the Provost’s Office develops an annual grant strategy based on our institutional priorities. In the first year of our partnership with them, McAllister & Quinn helped WNE faculty secure two grants, each of which was over one million dollars. Additionally, our consultants have helped with grant coaching for several cohorts of faculty.
