IRS-certified volunteers from Western New England University will provide income tax preparation to eligible taxpayers free of charge, in conjunction with the national Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA). Under the supervision of a Western New England University accounting faculty member who is a licensed CPA and attorney with more than 30 years' experience, the VITA volunteers will help people find tax credits, including the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and education credits. Strict confidentiality is maintained throughout the process.

To qualify, individuals must be a U.S. resident filing in Massachusetts and/or Connecticut. In addition, the total household income in 2018 must have been no more than $55,000 and cannot include rental properties or business returns.

Appointments will be available on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from mid-February through mid-April, and Springfield has bus routes that stop by the campus. Free visitor parking is available behind the Kevin S. Delbridge Welcome Center located on Wilbraham Road.
